Global interior design firm strengthens New York studio with recent internal elevations

Leading global interior architectural design firm Wilson Associates has announced five major promotions within its New York City studio. Of these advancements, Keiko Matsumoto will now serve as Design Director of F&B; Nunturat Robbamrung and Rafael Berkowitz as Design Directors; Michael Lawless as Project Manager of Wilson Associates’ specialty F&B design studio—Blueplate—and Annie Huang as Designer of Branding.

“The recent promotions showcase Wilson’s commitment to encouraging growth within our New York City studio,” said Monika Moser, Regional Managing Director, Wilson Associates’ London, New York, and Paris. “We are excited to see these rising leaders excel in their new roles, and I look forward to seeing how they will be able to further our reach in the region and continue pushing the boundaries of hospitality design.”

Previously Senior Design Manager, Keiko Matsumoto has been promoted to Design Director of F&B. Matsumoto, who has been with Wilson since 2014, is responsible for conceptualizing the design intent of each project in its entirety, creating a holistic design while taking into account the project’s location, history and cultural context.

Nunturat Robbamrung, who has been with the New York studio since 2012, has been promoted from Senior Design Manager to Design Director. In her new position, Robbamrung will oversee the studio’s design initiatives, projects, and conceptualization—serving as a vital mentor to the growing design team.

Rafael Berkowitz, also promoted from Associate Design Director to Design Director, joined Wilson Associates in 2016. With an extensive background in designing hospitality, residential, and dining spaces, Berkowitz possesses a wealth of industry knowledge and will supervise design initiatives and projects.

Michael Lawless, previously Project Designer, Branding & Concept of Wilson Associates’ Blueplate studio, will spearhead the specialty studio in his new role as Project Manager. Lawless will collaborate closely with F&B designers throughout each of Wilson Associates’ U.S. offices.

Annie Huang started at the New York studio as an Administrative Assistant. Huang’s illustrations caught the attention of her superiors which ultimately led her to her new role as Designer of Branding.

“As we begin preparing to celebrate the firm’s 50th anniversary in 2021, we are dedicated to servicing our esteemed clientele around the world,“ said Beth Campbell, CEO of Wilson Associates. “By putting our people first, prioritizing diversity, mentorship, and culture, we continue to champion truly excellent design –– a sentiment that is embodied in our next generation of leadership in New York.”
