Paul Jonker has recently joined as Development Director of The Other House, a new lifestyle hospitality brand from The Portfolio Club to be launched in prime central London. Blurring the lines between the traditional sectors of hotels, serviced apartments and private rentals, these new Residents’ Clubs, will combine home comforts and hotel style facilities whatever the length of stay.  

Paul has been appointed to oversee the development of the Wellington Block, an historic island site next to Covent Garden’s famous piazza, one of two significant properties acquired to date by The Other House. Alongside the Harrington Hall in South Kensington it will mark the launch of this innovative brand initially opening from Spring 2022. 

Paul is a qualified Architect and project manager with over 23 years’ experience in the construction industry. He has extensive knowledge in both the delivery of complex projects and wider business transformation activities, managing entire projects from feasibility to completion (including all pre and post-opening activities).

Paul has held a variety of senior project management and development positions, most recently as Development Director UK at Sydell Group where he led several high-impact hospitality developments including The Ned, the award-winning hotel and members' club in the City of London and the recently opened NoMad London.

Prior to this, Paul served as Project Manager at Heathrow Airport (formerly BAA Ltd), where projects included hotel and retail developments, implementation of new technology passenger products and Terminal upgrade works. Paul also worked as Associate Director with Warwick Avenue Limited, accountable for the managing of Hotel and Leisure projects on behalf of key clients including Accor Group. 

Paul previously practised as an Architect for nine years and worked at major international architectural practises including HOK International and Building Design Partnership. Paul enjoys new challenges and thrives on developing innovative and creative solutions to building, logistics and operational problems, His skills make him ideally suited to take on the task of the significant redevelopment and fit out of the Wellington Block, Covent Garden, a site he has known and loved during his time as Development Director at the Bow Street Magistrates Court nearby.

About The Other House
The Other House is a new hospitality brand in Prime Central London developed by The Portfolio Club, a joint venture partnership established in December 2019 between London Central Portfolio (LCP)  and APG, the largest pension provider in the Netherlands. Since then, the venture has acquired two properties, the Harrington Hall in South Kensington and the Wellington Block in Covent Garden, both of which require significant development to create around 200 club flats in each.
