SeaSpace Aparthotel brand launches

New lifestyle-driven aparthotel brand SeaSpace is due to launch with its first property on the site of the former Sands Resort in Cornwall, in summer 2024.

SeaSpace: Porth will be the first in a series of coastal aparthotels under the new flag, with discussions underway with investors and developers around growth strategies.

Ben Harper, CEO, Watergate Bay Hotel, Beach Retreats and Another Place, the team behind the brand, said: “The Sands Resort was a much-loved landmark in Cornwall and we are proud to take it into its next phase, giving it a fresh perspective, embedded in the local community.

“The needs and aspirations of travellers have changed in recent years and we believe the sector is ripe for a strong brand which offers lifestyle-led, leisure-driven stays combining the best of self catering with hotel hospitality.

“The domestic market is being revitalised, with innovative and inspiring hospitality offerings encouraging people to explore within our shores. There is not enough supply to meet these appetites and we are thrilled to be taking this next step with SeaSpace.”

SeaSpace will draw on the group’s previous success in experience-led lifestyle stays, driven by strong connections to the local community. Staying in apartments which satisfy their appetite for design, guest will enjoy curated food and drink from locally-loved brands and activities and experiences delivered by trusted partners.

Flexibility will be at the heart of the stay, with SeaSpace created for the changing way we live our lives. It will offer spaces and experiences for visitors and locals, leisure and business guests, every-one who wants to spend time recharging at the beach.

Five minutes from Porth beach and a short drive from Watergate Bay and Newquay, guests can book into one of 56 self-catering studios and two or three-bedroom apartments. Each has been de-signed for open plan living, with fully-kitted-out kitchens, dining/ work tables.

The flagship site will be supported by a team delivering 24/7 concierge, housekeeping and community, to blend the best of apartment living with premium hotel services. Light touch and tech-driven, operations will facilitate the freedom guests desire during their stays.

The Porth site is due to grow and has been granted planning permission for a further two apartments and 14 lodges in the grounds.

Sister brand Another Place is also set for expansion, with terms agreed to add The Machrie hotel and golf course on Islay, Scotland announced in November 2023. Commenting on the acquisition Harper said: “The Machrie is the perfect fit for Another Place, providing a stunning setting for re-laxing, active breaks.

“Guests are seeking out stays where they can get outside and enjoy the spectacular countryside we have in the UK, returning to an informal, but stylish hotel at the end of the day. We think there is an opportunity to meet this growing demand and look forward to adding more properties to the An-other Place portfolio.”

SeaSpace is now taking bookings for stays from October 2024.
