New dates: London Design Week 2021 moves to 16 – 21 May 2021

The event will be hybrid, with in-person visits and an online programme

Further to the latest UK government guidelines, Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour, the world’s premier design destination, has moved the dates of London Design Week 2021 to 16 – 21 May 2021.

Looking forward to a brighter future, the annual event at Design Centre, Chelsea will celebrate the best in design and demonstrate how the design world can reunite in a positive way. It kickstarts with a virtual launch on Sunday 16 May. From Monday 17 to Friday 21 May, the event will be hybrid, with in-person visits and an online programme that will reach out to a global audience.

Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour has long been a catalyst of creative connections, but now a new chapter is unfolding; London Design Week 2021 will provide an opportunity to reunite with industry friends and experience exceptional products in a more personalised way.

In-person Visits
After months at home, professional interior designers, architects and specifiers are longing to resume their usual sourcing process and see colours, patterns, materials and quality craftsmanship in person. Specialist teams in 120 showrooms will be on hand to advise on projects, share their product knowledge of the spring/summer collections and discuss bespoke options, all within individual showrooms that can more easily adhere to social distancing. There are other intangible things to look forward to: serendipitous encounters that can spark innovations and collaborations - and London Design Week 2021 will foster these human connections.

Virtual Programme with Global Reach
Alongside the physical event, a virtual programme will showcase the remarkable creativity that has evolved with changing times. Amplifying expert voices sharing knowledge, the Spotlight Series will dig deeper into the evolution of the new-season collections with unique insights from the world-class talent behind them. A stellar line-up of online talks, masterclasses and business-focused sessions will provide conversations and in-depth analysis that will keep the design industry competitive and connected, wherever they are in the world.

Design Directions
With its unique collective, London Design Week 2021 offers creative inspiration, signalling the design directions for the months ahead, across every type of product including fabrics, furniture, lighting, wallcoverings, carpets, tiles, kitchens, bathrooms, outdoor living, trimmings, leather and hardware. New international showrooms opening in time for London Design Week 2021 will include Schumacher and Studio Franchi. A curated selection of house guests will add another layer. There will be a greater variety of natural designs and indoor/outdoor products, as well as an increasing consciousness for sustainability.

Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour has been agile in recognising changing needs to keep design projects moving forward. As a preview to London Design Week 2021, head online to ‘First Look’ to see a curated edit of uplifting palettes making their debut for spring/summer 21.

Save the Date
London Design Week 2021 remains a design calendar highlight. It will adhere to UK government guidelines at the time, and plans may be subject to change. The welfare of the Design Centre’s community of showrooms, colleagues, partners and visitors remains a number one priority.

Carrying forward the strength of togetherness are the messages of positivity and connection that have put Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour firmly on the map.
