Event highlights: London Design Week 2021 at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour

16 -21 May: Registration now open and virtual programme highlights announced

London Design Week 2021 at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour will celebrate the best in design and demonstrate how the design world can reunite. It kickstarts with a virtual launch on Sunday 16 May. From Monday 17 to Friday 21 May, the event will be hybrid, with in-person visits and an online programme that will reach out to a global audience.

IN-PERSON VISITS
At the world’s premier destination for design and decoration, be immersed in design excellence at a legendary hub that is as inspiring as it is influential.

We have all been spending more time at home lately and it is an exciting prospect to be able to encounter remarkable products in person once again. Professionals are resuming their usual sourcing process, so register for London Design Week 2021 and start your voyage of discovery around the showrooms.

On every floor there will be an abundance of uplifting colour and pattern, tactile materials, exquisite finishes and quality craftsmanship. It will be hugely inspiring; experiencing remarkable design up close is a veritable feast for the senses. The showroom teams have a wealth of specialist knowledge at their fingertips, so this is an opportunity to talk to them about projects and see the spring/summer 21 ranges in all their glory. There will be a greater variety of natural designs and indoor/outdoor products, as well as an increasing consciousness for sustainability.

A curated selection of ‘house guest’ pop-ups in the Design Avenue will add another layer of interaction.

Measures are in place to ensure safety and wellbeing during your visit.

VIRTUAL PROGRAMME
The talks programme – all of it free to view – has a stellar international line-up with renowned names beaming in from around the globe.

Headline speakers include Diane von Furstenberg, Beata Heuman, Kit Kemp, Robert Stilin, John and Catherine Pawson in conversation with leading magazine editors. There will be panel discussions on the future of design, insights into health and wellness, both inside and outside the home, as well as next-generation names such as Remy Renzullo and Olivia Outred discussing the rise of neo-nostalgia. Joining the Creative Collaboration series will be Sasha Bikoff, Jamie Drake, Thomas O’Brien, Sophie Paterson and Gianluca Franzese talking about working on collections with the showrooms. Amplifying expert voices sharing knowledge, the Spotlight Series will dig deeper into the creative process of design from the people who shaped the latest collections. Amongst many others, they will include influential names such as Franco Ceccotti, Lori Weitzner, Roger Thomas and artist Liz Collins who filmed in her Brooklyn studio. More names to be announced.
