In the popular, up-coming area of New Cairo a novel oasis is taking shape. The new Royal Maxim Hotel Kempinski is transformed into a budding genesis in the desert of Egypt. The design and concept has been implemented by Swedish interior design firm, Living Design.
The prestigious project of designing the newest 5-star hotel in Cairo, Egypt, begun in August 2010 by Living Design of Sweden. Behind the project, that has a total footprint of 25.000 m2 is the Egyptian developing company, Karrar Group of Real Estate investment, who worked in cooperation with Living Design. The project comprise a total of 250 rooms, 24 suites, a destination spa, gym and pool areas, a nightclub, eight restaurants, a shopping arcade as well as Egypt’s largest ballroom among other public areas; these spaces shall manage to create an oasis for this exquisite hotel.
As designers of the 21st century capable of re-inventing the modern vocabulary of interior design, Living Design of Sweden has looked at the daunting task of recreating these complex spaces to suit different tastes and moods inspired by Egyptian culture, its history and civilization.
The hotel will embody the respect and appreciation for the natural world that the Egyptian civilization have possessed since time immemorial. The land area of Egypt is covered by 96 per cent of desert and Egypt is one of the richest countries in the world developing on the oasis and the Nile being the vein of its life.

Living Design has, during years of design, understood how to attract hotel visitors with elegant and charming design. “With the oasis philosophy in mind we have designed the entrance and lobby area of the hotel like a true oasis where stones, palm trees and water are vital elements,” said Tarek Hegazy, the leader behind Living Design and the team involved in this project.
The guests will experience the feel of both staying in a luxury hotel, which also takes them on a journey through its treasures and rich relish. Fabrics and furnishings have also been created to seamlessly weave together with the Egyptian past, present and future. The oasis offers a wonderful respite, food and beverage to the travellers that come from the desert to the cities. In the same way the hotel will serve the guests and offer them an amazing experience.
At the hotel’s opening you will be surrounded by stones, falling water recall waterfalls that cascade from the rocks to nourish the tree roots. And it’s that feeling of relaxing luxury that Living Design stands for and wish all the guest to carry with them, all the way back to reality.
The history of Living Design is long and illustrious with more than 27 years of interior design for more than 180 luxurious hotels worldwide. It can offer both design as well as turnkey solutions through it’s headquarter in Sweden and its new office in Geneva.
