For nearly 40 years Trevillion Interiors has been providing interior design solutions for the hospitality sector. Trevillion Interiors’ reputation to deliver practical solutions to a given budget and programme, is indeed an attractive proposition. So, as one of the last consultants to be appointed on the construction of The Brooklands Hotel, Weybridge the company had its work cut out!

Built on an industrial estate, opposite a very modern car showroom, with two well known superstores as neighbours, and a museum alongside, this new build hotel finds itself positioned strategically on a historic site of national importance.
Trevillion Interiors was challenged with the task of delivering a chic, almost boutique style hotel on a large scale. The Brooklands Hotel, Weybridge successfully brings together all the disciplines required of a 4-star property with one ‘underlining story’ celebrating its unique location.
The opportunity to express so much history without becoming themed was indeed a challenge and yet at closer inspection the classic detail of the 1930s era is so very apparent.
The ‘square within a square’ motif (an influence of the Far and Middle Eastern designs of the Art Deco period) is etched into the lift car doors, woven into the carpet design and as an oversized detail within the function room, which creates a glamorous wall decoration.

A sweeping canopy above the bar, reminiscent of a classic car interior, was inspired by the iconic Bibendum Armchair created by Eileen Gray. The same detail was expanded to create a huge seating unit to the centre of the room, which features real plane propellers chromed to an amazing effect.
On entering the building, the three storey ceiling height had always lent itself to housing some suspended art installation. Cars, planes and even a glider was considered, yet the overwhelming uniqueness of this site was its testimony to being the first ‘banked’ racing circuit of it’s kind. A planning requirement to indicate the site of the Solomon Straight suggested that the installation above needed to connect in some way to the floor below.
A shopping trip into London one sunny Saturday morning was the moment a seed of an idea was formed and the fluid, bentwood timber which now graces the space portraying the speeding cars on the track was born.
The ethos behind the original design intention has been successfully delivered to produce a cohesive story totally committed to the brand yet never heavily themed.
